South Florida Auction....old Woodcraft - 0 replies
I hope this is ok to post in general woodworking, if not, I’m sure the Mods can move it for me. The old Woodcraft in Ft. Myers appears to have sent everything that was left in the store to an auction house in Cape Coral. I’m sure there are good deals to be had, but you had better hurry. If you are in the area, the auction is TONIG...

I’ve finally gotten around to flattening the back of my chisels, and I have a question. How do you know when the back of a new chisel is flat enough, or polished enough? Yeah, I can see myself in the back of the tool, but it’s not a perfect mirror….I stopped at 1200 grit…it’s all I had. (I’m doing Scary ...

What should these be sold for? - 4 replies
This ad keeps popping up on the local Craigslist. http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee/tls/2544586393.html $195 seems like a heck of a lot for these planes. If my thinking is right, what would be a more realistic price?

New Lumber Rack - 4 replies
Thank you to everyone that answered my questions and gave advice about building a lumber rack. I still didn’t feel comfortable building something that attached to my block walls, but in looking around, I saw some great free-standing racks. So I took a few of those ideas and ran with it. This is what I came up with. Not only does ...

Would this work? - 11 replies
It’s time for a lumber rack, but I’m struggling for a design. Living in South Florida means a shop that is all hollow concrete block. I don’t trust it to hold the weight of a wall mounted rack, but I don’t have the floor space for a dedicated stand alone. My latest thought is to sandwich 2×4’s between some b...

Festool tripping breaker - 5 replies
I have a Festool TS55 and a CT26 vac. I can’t seem to make it through even a crosscut in 3/4 ply without tripping a breaker. The circuit has nothing else running on it other than a small box fan. It’s only a 15 amp circuit, but I can’t imagine that some contractors out there don’t encounter that kind of circuit when th...

How'd I do? - 1 reply
My latest Craigslist find. A Craftsman 22901 3/4hp drill press. Cost me $75.00. I could tell when I went to look at it that there was quite a bit of wobble to the bit, but it looked like it was the chuck and not the arbor….my dial indicator seems to confirm that. There is almost 0 run-out at the arbor, but about 50 thousands at a b...

Who doesn't like grits? - 14 replies
Hello All! I’ve enjoyed lurking around for awhile, but now it’s time to ask some questions as I’m new to setting up shop. I’ve done some woodworking in the past, but never in my own shop. I’m finding that there are many things I’ve taken for granted in the past since I’ve always worked in well equi...

South Florida Plywood and Hardwood Supplier - 2 replies
Hello all! I’m new to the southwest coast of Florida (Naples to be specific). I’m trying to set up a small shop here and need to get some cabinets built. Is there anyone on here that can give me recommendations on places to purchase plywood and hardwood lumber. I don’t have a jointer or planer, yet so if there is a place ...
