Hi all
Well, I couldn’t afford the 350$ + for the wooden screws, and I didn’t like the look of the black plate on the veritas twin screw vise. So I built my own using 2 tail vise screws (40$ each)
First I built the big wood pieces that will old the metal nuts. I didn’t want to use through bolts and opted for a drawbore mortise and tenon attachment.
I used the smallest bit that I could for the hole, The screw is 1 1/16 and I used a 1 1/8 bit. I found It helps...

I’ve had the urge to just make something small for some time now…I’ve been working on a bed with what little shop time I have, and haven’t had much time for other stuff. I wanted one of those projects that you could just take the materials at hand and go for it.
Also, something that wouldn’t take forever to build and would give some (relatively) instant gratification.
I had some scrap cedar, fir, poplar, and walnut that’ll be used in this little box/case. ...

First off, Let me answer a question asked about this project. I, in fact, realized that I could have cut the dado’s before cutting the length of plywood…....About an hr. after I was into the project while cutting the dado’s. And, yes, it was really an adventure putting all those boards into the dado’s once they were cut. But like my Dad taught me; “One board at a time son, that’s all there is to it”.
Having fun getting it all together and ain’...
