A couple of weeks ago I was searching the Craigslist ads for a wood lathe, and found one in my neighbourhood, so I phoned the man and went over to see it. He had 3 lathes in his small workshop and he told me that this one had to go, as he needed the room to put in a dust collector. This one is a Craftex model B2198. It’s a 12” x 33 1/2” between centers. There is a local tool dealer that sells the ‘Craftex’ brand of machines, and parts and accessories for this lathe are readily available. The gentleman that had this lathe for sale is a very nice older gentleman, we had a good visit, and he sold me the lathe and some accessories for $75, and he even delivered it to my shop for me with his pickup truck. So, this week, I made a trip to Home Depot to buy some lumber and hardware to build a bench for it as you see in the photo. I just completed the bench yesterday. I purchased a set of woodturning chisels, a face plate, a face shield and now I’m anxious to begin some turnings (bowls, etc.). I haven’t done any wood turning since I was in high school, but I used to love working on the lathe back then. Thanks for looking.

Pretty solid looking machine. Let the charge towards addiction commence.

Good one Trev.
The $75 for delivery (in the neighborhood) is a little steep, but The free lathe really makes up for it.

Great C/L find. I thought my older lathe was a great deal at $125.
Good Luck with it and look froward to seeing your projects.

Great buy on the lathe, I think part of it was the gentleman could tell that the lathe was going to someone
who would appreciate and use it. As I get a little older, I am wondering what will happen to my tools when I
can not longer use them. I got my shop together too late to share with my sons, and my grandsons and
great-grandsons are interested in projects, but not so interested in woodworking. Hope you have lots of
fun with the lathe. There are plenty of projects, plans and inspirations here on Lumberjocks to get you
started and keep you going. Thank you for sharing.
