I responded to an ad on Craigslist this weekend for ‘Oak Board Shorts’. Sure enough, it turned out to be from a guy named Siggy, from whom I had purchased wood from twice before in the past. He was selling 81 boards of Oak, 22” in length, 4” wide, and 9/16” thick, all planed and ready for projects.. perfect width and thickness for more jewellery and keepsake boxes. I got the lot for $35 (approx. 25 board feet). The boards are all totally clear, no knots or defects anywhere. I feel that I got myself a good deal. I just gotta make room for the stash on my lumber rack now, which is pretty darn full as it is, but I assure you that I can find room for it.

Good deal !
But I’ll ‘one up you’ LOL
My trailer is 5w x 10l x 2h and I totally loaded it to the point that the truck rear was very light due to rear overhang.
All the oak was 10”-16” wide with a few as wide as 18”.
My cost was $250.00. Never did calculate the cost per ft but for what I paid I could recoup by burning it in my fireplace.
We are talking maybe 150 cubic ft of nice oak.
Ok so some of the wide ones had some splits.
Have your say...
