I was in my shop this morning when my widow neighbor, whose garage is adjacent to my shop, came over and asked me if I wanted some of her deceased husband’s junk. I went over and she had the items you see here in the photo. Brand new 15 piece spade bit set never used, a set of auger bits, cold chisel and punch set, wood plane and block plane, power rasp, brand new titanium drill bit set, Lockhead adjustable bit that will drill to 5” diameter, nail sets, etc. She said if I didn’t want the stuff that she was just going to put it all in a bag and throw it into the garbage. So… I saved her a plastic bag and brought it over to my shop.

Nice wee score… my other half and I always have believed what goes round comes round and we give most of our un-used stuff away. ie; we upgraded our microwave (one of them multi convention thingy’s) and gave our old microwave to our friends kids who is going out flatting… the old toaster oven thingy to other friends and many other things like that to friends first op-shop, salvation army shop next. That way some one else can still get some use out of it.

I hope you make good use of them new tools. and I am sure the old fella is looking down on you say cool they are going to good use. :-)

Hi Trev.

I recognize those Spade bits, I have them. Your late neighbor was a Canadian Tire shopper.

Being a good neighbor is never a bad thing.

Free tools are great! Congrats on the pickup.

I had the same thing happen to me once. I was planing some boards outside this last summer when my neighbor came over to complain about the noise. When he saw that I was woodworking, he decided to grab an old Porter Cable trim router and bring it over to me. He said he didn’t use it anymore, and if I agreed to take my planer behind closed garage doors then it was mine to keep.

I’ve been planing boards in the garage ever since!

what’d be really cool is if you incorporated the tools into making a little project for her! Kind of a nice thought that her husbands tools helped make it…..
