I am a Professional Firefighter in NY. I also have always worked in the new housing market. I own and operate a drywall business for 27 years now. Every time the Trim Carpenters would start I would talk to them and pick their brains. I always wanted to get started in Woodworking as a hobby. Like so many of us it was hard to get started. I began to collect some tools and play around a little. I read magazines mostly. I found it hard to follow along. There always seemed to be pieces of the puzzle left out. I soon began to realize that one of the biggest parts in Woodworking was Finishing. Yes I learned to Finish before I learned to build. How many times have we seen people build something and either sits unfinished or it is ruined attempting to finish it.So I started to look over the net to find info on Finishing. One guy kept popping up Charles Neil. So after seeing his name several times I called him. He answered the phone. This was my start into Woodworking right at that moment. We talked a little and we never stopped to this day. We became good friends. He has helped me take my Woodworking and Finishing to levels I never thought possible. I now build a lot of custom Pieces on commission. Its been a great ride. Whats better than that I get to make money doing what I love to do. This was all made possible from watching Charles in his Videos and his show Mastering Woodworking with Charles Neil.
