Ridgid 18-Volt Lithium Ion Drill Driver and Impact Driver Combo Kit $179
My old 14 volt batteries are getting tired, the chuck is wearing out and the drill is getting a bit loose. It is still very serviceable, but is is pre-lifetime warranty. The cost of batteries is prohibitive as compared to just replacing the whole thing with a new drill, battery and charger. Especially with life time warranty on the new batteries. A few months ago I read a review about the newer 18 volt Ridgid drill being a little short on battery time. I decided to pass and just shop fo...
Veritas Cornering tool
I have had this tool for a few years. I use it quit a bit. I never seem to like the feel of it, just me I guess. It works very well if I keep my wits about myself. If I don’t, I end up cutting into the grain opening a big sliver on the edge I am trying to round over. The two tools have 4 radius options, 1/16, 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4. I usually opt for one of the smaller ones. Tonight I was breaking the edge on a pine shelf board. It does a good job very quickly and saves setting up th...
Harbor Freight Wireless Driveway Alert System 93086
In order to do any work or woodworking, we need to keep our tools safe and sound. Unfortunately, unincorporated south King County, WA does not have viable police protection. Most city cops in the area just laugh when you tell them you are in the unincorporated area because they know there are no cops. Unfortunately, the thieves know it too. Fortunately, we have annexed into a city and the police actually come rather quickly. I had thieves trying to steal my tools at least 3x a year fro...
Kawasaki Titanium Coated 99 piece set of drill bits
Hello LJs, I saw this Kawasaki Titanium Coated 99 piece set of drill bits a Costco for $19.99. Kawasaki? Drill bits? I knew they made motorcycles, but drill bits? Then I thought they must be good drills if Kawasaki made them. After all, my nephew rode their bikes to a national championship in Hound n’ Hare cross country desert racing on The Green Team ;-)) But I was still a bit leery. Costco doesn’t sell garbage, but $19.99 for 99 drill bits? There are a lot of small replacement f...
eBay Customer Protection greatly improved in last 5 yrs
I made the mistake of not looking closely enough at an old Stanley 39 plough plane. The title said “Plane” and “wood cutter”. It looked just another old well used plane that would need bit of cleaning up but would make a user. A lot of finish still on it and a little rust. I had seen a lot of them selling for $25-40. The seller had 100% positive feed back, so I didn’t spend a lot of time studying the pictures looking for a scam or what they were trying to pull over on someone. The blad...
Poulan P3314 Chainsaw
I bought this Poulan 14” P3314 a couple of years ago because I wanted a smaller saw for small jobs. It had a very good price at Lowes. I have a small electric for around home, but now needed one for woods use. My other saw is a 041 Super Stihl. I don’t recall what it weighs but I run 28 and 32 inch bars on it. It is a bit unwieldy at times and a bit tiring for all day use. This little Poulan has plenty of power for its 14 inch bar and cuts fast and straight. The only down side is the ...
LOCKTITE Power Grab adhesive, great stuff!
I used Locktite Power Grab to install some cleats to support some shelves in our 5th wheel. The surfaces were fairly slick, so I roughed them up a bit with 50 grit sandpaper. I tried this adhesive because the cabinets are fairly deep and narrow, It would be quite difficult to reach in to position,, hold and attach the cleats with screws. I intended to get the cleats placed and use screws later. The product holds so well, I cannot break it loose after a day and a half. The only failure w...
