Part 1: Disston D-8 handle - initial sanding
This blog follows this one I messed up when I tried to put them in the same series. Had some downtime last night. So I picked up that saw handle. I used mineral spirits and wiped it as clean as I could. Then using a small sanding block and 150 grit paper started sanding at the flat planes of the handle. Part 2: Disston D8 - Blade
I cleaned the sawblade by using a scraper for the grime and surface rust. Then using Naval Jelly and a stiff nylon bristle brush removed the rust. After that it was coated with WD-40 and sanded starting with 220 and progressing through 0000 steel wool. The medallions and screws were cleaned with Barkeepers Friend and polished. Im pretty happy on how it turned out.
