The Shoe Rack

I Finished this in June 2012 and am just getting around to posting it. I made the Shoe Rack for my wife and it took a lot longer than I thought it would. I made the top, doors and frame out of solid Cherry and the carcase out of Cherry Plywood. I used 4 coats of G F Enduro poly satin for the finish. I got the idea to put the penny with the year I finished the project a couple years ago from wood magazine’s Jim Heavey at the wood Show. Thanks for taking a look, take care and be safe.
A simple router table

I have been following Stevinmarin Router Table Build videos ( great videos, go take a look ) and wanted to get in the act. I already have a dedicated router table I built a while back, but for some reason I wanted to build this one for a backup. The table is 22’ x 20’ 3/4 . I found the plans online ( http://www.woodworkingtips.com/etips/etip040700wb.html ) and the Cherry, Maple fence and maple plywood are scrapes from other projects. This table and fence took me about 6 hours, had to glue up the maple, go get longer screws for the router and I finished it with spray shellac. So you could say this is a free router table ( except for the screws ). I think one could make it in under an hour if you had to. I have tried the router table a couple of times, and it works great. Over all a fun and useful project. If anyone decides to make this table let me know how it turns out. Thanks for looking.

Kids Workbench

This is my “kids workbench” that my kids and I built. They like to go out with me and build thing with me. They use all the scrape wood from what ever I am working on for their projects. So for Christmas Santa brought them some tools ( HF Tools ) to work with. The bench is 3/4” Plywood, 1/2” particle board, 2X4s and Hard board. The dimensions are 61’ L X 27”W x 28” H. The Vise is a bessey that we got from a Big Box Store for $20.00. My girls are already to go to work now with their Tools, Bib Overalls and their new Work Bench. Thanks for stopping by.

Haven’t progressed to much I guess. The 1st I made for my Mom and the second one I made for my Mother in-law. When I was making the one for my Mother in-law I refinished the 1972 cutting board at the same time. Thanks for stopping by

Magic Wine Bottle Holder

Last year I did cutting boards for Christmas presents and I didn’t know what to do this year. Then I saw the magic wine bottle holder by the teen woodworker and it got me thinking , why couldn’t I make the magic wine bottle holder look like the cutting boards. Went online and found these plans ( Click here: http://timelesstreasuretrunk.com/Woodworking/projects.html#wineholder ) so I glued up some maple and walnut and went to get some two buck chuck wine and presto 2012 Christmas presents. Thanks for taking a look.

Modular Router Table

After I bought a table saw I thought it would be a good idea to take a class in woodworking since I haven’t done any real woodworking since high school ( Safety 1st ) . So I needed a project and what better project than another tool. After looking on the Internet I found this one at Plans now (http://plansnow.com/ultrouttabl.html ).
At the time I liked the fact that it was portable and the base could be used for other tool like a thickness planer. The top is made of 3/4” maple the same as the cabinets with two pieces of 1/4” MDF and two pieces of formica from a big box store , it had a chip in the corner so they gave me 40% off , that’s why it’s not white. The two cabinets are made of shop grade maple. I also made the fence. With some help from a friend we wired the power cord and switch. I finished it with three coats of General Finishes Arm-R-Seal Oil & Urethane Topcoat. I have a Porter-Cable 2-1/4 HP Router to put in the table. Thank you for looking I had fun building this project and Please feel free to leave comments or ask questions.

These are some of the projects that I did in high school, back in 1973 my freshman year. As you can see in the 1st picture I also did ceramics , that’s a castle sitting on the coffee table. They have both been setting there at my mom’s house ever sense I brought them home from High school. I am glad I left them with my mom when I left home.
I am just getting started in woodworking again after 35 plus years. that is one thing I wish I would have kept up with after high school. Better late than never. Please feel free to leave comments or ask questions. Thank you for taking a look.

SandBox Boat

My kids wanted a sand box and I kept putting it off, one day after I bought a storage cabinet my two daughters started playing Dora the Explorer in the box. The cabinet’s box was the boat , and they played in that old box everyday till it fell apart. So I thought why not make the sandbox a multi function play area. After some 2 X 6’s , 2 X 4’s and some plywood they have their own SandBox Boat with telescope and Helm. They now travel the world right in there own backyard.
