I decided in high school that I would eventually build a log home. I start it in ‘03 and I am starting to see the finish line. (knowing it will never be fully completed).

Here are just a few pics of the work that my wife and I have done. I have built most of the cabinetry in the house (not the kitchen). Besides the roofer (shingles), electrician, and HVAC all of the work has been completed by my wife and me. It has been a long journey but in the end will be a great success.

Two years ago I had a quick reminder of safety procedures when working with my table saw. After three years of ripping pine boards down for all the walls, ceilings, trim, cabinets, etc… I decided to go out to my shop and make a quick drawer divider. While ripping the board I decided to place my left hand behind the blade to hold the board down (yes I knew better, but I was rushing because the Ravens game was on in an hour). Although I was using a push stick with my right hand that did not help when the board pinched and my finger met the blade dividing the last joint in my index finger in two, straight up the finger. I like to tell this story as a reminder to those LJ that like me sometimes forget about safety when rushing or just not following good safety procedures. As soon as I did it heard my shop teacher in my head telling me to never put my hand behind the blade. It would have been more effective had he been in my head before I turned the saw on :)

Anyway, thank you to those welcoming me to the community. I have several questions that I will be asking as I am about to start my dining table next week and will have some finishing questions.
