DocK…. Sometimes, I can't believe I have that much metal in my neck. It's creepy when I realize that my skull wasn't attached to the rest of my body at one time!!!! I was just blessed to have such a talented surgeon!!!!

I've seen thousands of x-rays overhe years but I've never seen that much heavy metal in one neck before. Welcome to LJs Wish you well, and no more surgeries.

Thanks to everyone on your warm welcome to LJ's. I love this site!!!

In case you're curious, my last surgery (neck) was December 2nd and 3rd (yes, 2 days, 15 hours total). They removed 2 vertebre and fused everything from C2-T2, so pretty much, my entire neck. My arms used to go completely numb every time I raised them above my head. In March 2010 I set the hook on a nice bass with my spinning reel and lost almost all the use of my right arm for more than 6 months. After viewing my MRI, the surgeon consulted with the other 5 doctors at the Texas Spine Consultants office and they all agreed it was the worst neck MRI any of them had ever seen.

If anyone is thinking about ANY type of back/neck/spine surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Kendall Carll at Texas Spine Consultants in Dallas at Baylor Hospital 214 370-3535.

I haven't worked on very many projects lately because of bone spur issues with my right shoulder and arm that are completely unrelated to my surgery. I should be "good to go" very soon and look forward to completing several projects that were started a couple of years ago.

Hey Tim, Just noticed your signature when you posted on a project. Now looking at your buddy icon I see that we have similiar hardware in our necks. I had a disc removed from my neck about three years ago. Woke up Easter morning with pain and numbness. I think mine was from too many years of landing on my head when I rode Bulls. Hope things continue to get better and Welcome to LJ's

dakremer, it's a very long story but the injuries caused the disability(1989)(1998)(2000). I've had 3 spinal surgeries, 2 lower(1999) (2005) back and 1 neck(2010), they have all been very helpful but I still have lots of nerve damage caused by the injuries. I have very little pain and most of the numbness is gone but I have lost most of my strength. I try to only work on smaller projects because I'm not strong enough to lift sheet goods!! Good luck with your studies, chiropractors are GREAT and have helped me VERY MUCH over the years!!

I have to ask, and this isn't meant to be rude, but did u become disabled because of the injury or because of the horrific spinal surgery??? (only ask because I'm studying to be a chiropractor). Hope u r doing well, and welcome aboard - this is an amazing site!!
