I have been playing with spraying projects lately. I like the look of a sprayed finish and enjoy it more. Cans of sprayed finish can be very expensive though over time. I happened to find an HVLP sprayer at the local HF and decided to give it a try. Surprisingly it worked, and well at that. Check out the video and subscribe to see how it works.

I’ve got one too, just without the onboard pressure regulator. I was really impressed with how well it worked spraying oil based poly. I’m looking forward to trying other materials.

Yep! I have had one for a while too and it does a beautiful job! As a point of interest, shortly after I bought mine at Harbor Freight I was in the Rockler store and ran across the EXACT same spray gun at double the price. I have also noticed that in a number of videos on YouTube about how to do auto paint spraying this same spray gun was being used. My gun has the regulator, but it is not necessary. You can regulate the pressure from your compressor regulator. The advantage of the regulator being on the gun is it gives you the air pressure at the gun. Should you be using a long hose, there will be a significant pressure drop by the time the air travels from a compressor located air pressure regulator to the gun. And you don’t have to walk back to the compressor to fine tune the air pressure.

I have been spraying paint for about 60 years now and have accumulated three or four spray guns, one a Binks, another a DeVilbiss, and two old Sears, all siphon types. This Harbor Freight gun was my first HVLP gun, and it sprays as good as the best of the others. I would also like to note the finish and machining of the HF gun is superb!
