Thor – I too sat in the background watching and reading, not sure if i wanted to enter the arena. But ultimately it was nice to post a project and have comments from others that truely appreciate the time and effort that it takes. You have many nice and interesting projects on your website, hope to see some of them here soon. I am not a carver but marvel at those that can.

Thanks for the nice welcome.
I would never have known about this forum without Dick Cain’s invitation.
Thanks Dick. I’m enjoying the variety of folks who do so many different wood projects.
I’m sure it will influence my own work as well.

I am still finding my way around the site. So much to read!

I am truly impressed with the diversity of your carving and wonder how many days in the year you need to accomplish this beautiful artistry. My carving “accomplishments” by comparison are trivial. I look forward to more examples of your work in the future. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hi Cronk,
I need as many days as I can get! I hope to be a good carver someday so I practice almost everyday. Meanwhile, I have a business that’s open 7 days a week (sometimes closed on Wednesdays, but not often), 3 grown kids who all became biologists (no idea how that happened), host a woodcarvers’ gathering at my gallery one Saturday each month, renovate vintage travel trailers, have way too many animals (horses, dogs, cats, chickens, peacocks, and a very demanding blue and gold macaw), and now spring is here so I’m trying to work in the gardens everyday to make them pretty.
I think I need a nap now.

I enjoyed seeing this. I especially admire the contrasting woods used to accent the knotwork and the matching case for the instrument. What a terrific project. Well done.
