Guess I must have been a good boy working on the wife’s circle kitchen because she actually helped me with this project for an hour or so. WooHoo
Here are just a few shoots of finishing up the gantry, there are rails on both sides of the gantry to accommodate a wrap around z axis guild, didn’t really like the thought of all that weight just hanging off the front side.
This would be a lot easier if I had better idea of how to. but still having fun. :-)
Here is the 3 main pieces that make up one side of the gantry.
Drilling out the rails for cabinet connectors for fastening to the gantry, marked them out and my wife drilled the prep holes on the drill press.
Inserting the connectors. These were fasted from the back side to seat the connector in the face of the rail so it could be covered with laminate
Wife staining one of the two caps that fit on the top and bottom keeping the gantry from bending.
Parts and pieces ready for gluing.
Up front the 3 main pieces that make up one side of the gantry, 1/4 inch spacer to add clearance for the roller bearing nut, the rail which is upside down showing the connectors, and one half of the gantry. In the back ground is the other half already assembled. The brown formica in the middle is just a spacer, I only have one sheet of the lighter colored formica and still have the z axis to laminate.
Rolls quite smoothly.
Thanks for stopping by!!
Cheers – Jeff
