About Me
Hello Lumberjocks!
My name is KC (said Casey, but short for Kansas City), and I'm super stoked to have finally signed up for site privileges. I've perused this site for some time now, and have recently begun to view Lumberjocks in tandem with my other forum that I'm a member of. I figure it's only natural to be a member of both!
I'm a small business owner of a custom carpentry company in the Tidewater area of Virginia, but as of late the economy finds me doing more handyman type work than custom carpentry. It's all good though because I find I'm more excited about a project that comes along after I've been fixing toilets and patching drywall for awhile.
My goal is to someday write for a woodworking magazine, or do a podcast on woodworking with recycled or salvaged materials. I'm inspired by Marc "The Wood Whisperer" Spagnulo, John Nixon of Eagle Lake Woodworking, and Tommy "T-chisel" Macdonald. I really like to see the younger generation taking an interest, bringing humor to the work, and being very good craftsmen because stereotypically I feel like woodworkers are seen as being of an older generation. No offense old dudes! Who else are we going to learn from!
Anyway, I'll close with just a few more tidbits to help you guys get to know me a little better. I'm a 25 year old, and a very proud 5 year veteran of the US Navy. In the Navy my job was known as Aviation Ordnance. Aviation Ordnance is probably one of the coolest jobs in the Navy because it involves building, loading, maintaining, and storing all of the bombs, missiles, rockets, and ammunition for Naval Aircraft. Pretty freakin' cool! I also really enjoy MMA or mixed martial arts, and have had 5 fights. I enjoy writing, Bailey type 11's, Johnny Cash, and long walks on the beach….
Not really the long walks part….
Until next time…
