New Find – 1952 Delta Metal / Wood Band Saw.

Appeared on CL, and I called the guy right away. It’s mostly complete, even with the light and 3/4 hp.

I have not given it a complete go-over, but from what I see, it’s in good working form.. only paid $180.

consider this the BEFORE photo

So, the transmission wasn’t working on this, so I took it apart. Those of you who know this saw, know that the alignment pins need to be drifted before the cover will come off.

This wasn’t the case for me. It became clear that the unit had been previously serviced because of the new gasket (some sort of RTV). One of the pins had not been inserted at all (?!!!).

Also, it is interesting to see, that the gear box was not assembled correctly. The lever was not connected to the shift yoke…. almost like someone didn’t want it to go into wood mode…

but I wonder if the bearing had been replaced at some time, as it does spin easily…

What do you think?
