It’s been nearly 4.5 years since I posted anything. Crazy how time flies. But, it’s a newer, calmer chapter of my life and I’m getting back to working in my garage shop.
I had a job that was killing me. From the inside out. Around 3 years ago, I left that company and made my way to a new one, with a fresh start and a helluva pay increase. Now, the business unit I started in was a dream compared to my old job, but they have a real cult of personality going on and the hours were hefty. Beginning of 2016, I left that business unit for another opportunity within the company and it’s been fantastic. I get to have a personal life, finally. < Short version. Long version is only interesting to me. You’re welcome.
Basically, I’m in a place professionally, personally and financially to get back to my dream of building out my shop and enjoying making things. The other day, I dovetailed some 1/4” scrap common pine together into a little utilitarian box. The dovetails were LOL worthy. One corner, I accidentally started chiseling away (Craig Vandall Stevens style) the tails. Caught myself just in time to salvage them. Well, they glued up anyway.
My shop is in flux right now. I’m getting organized, completing house and shop projects simultaneously. Readying for the newest better-half-approved addition to my shop and probably the last large machine I’ll ever purchase. A Grizzly G0513X2. I can’t wait for it to arrive. I’ve got a dozen ideas floating around in my head.
Anyway, good to be back in the mix. Look forward to reading your blogs and seeing your projects.
Why does Rob Cosman believe Wood River planes are all half the price of their competition? Is that the new common core math they’re teaching kids today?
