CMT 10, 50 Tooth PTFE coating

CMT 10, 50 Tooth PTFE coating

Bought this to try and breathe a little life in my old Ryobi BT3000 table saw. It worked flawlessly, and the PTFE is by far and away the best coating I have found to date on a blade. The “Luxembourg Cerametal” carbide tips are some of the best I’ve ever cut with, both cross and rip. Fancy name for really sharp fine grained carbide… When I upgraded to my Rigid R4512, I put this blade on right away, and for the first time felt what it was like to have zero resistan...

Powertec BD6900

Powertec BD6900

For decades, literally, I have used a Toolkraft 6X48 sander with a slightly undersized motor. I believe I took it in on trade for some refinishing work back in the late 70’s. But the bronze bushings were finally wearing, it wouldn’t track right anymore, and the motor was pretty shot, so I started looking. Settled on a Powertec from Southerntool after the HF unit on sale for $199 was out of stock USA. Southerntool is an Amazon associate dealer. Paid $268 including shipping.Sol...

Finally pulling the trigger on a new, 17” bandsaw for my larger jewelry box line shaped like the instruments I build, I had to wait a few weeks for my saw. Finally arriving at my day job for unloading, crate and all were carefully inserted onto skids into my Chevy Suburban by 6 guys so I could take it home. Friday the 13th of July I carefully slid it out with the help of my John Deere and some oak ramps, and carefully soon had it upright, unpacked, and finally in position in my shop. N...

I do a lot of woodworking, for over 40 years. My current shop is smaller, so my wood stock is kept in another room, about 20 feet away. Every time I need a piece of stock it is either hog over a big plank into the main shop and cut it, or take a circular saw into the wood room and cut off what I needed from the rack of wood. I tried using battery powered circular saws, but found that I often had a slightly dead battery since I only cut my stock at the beginning of the project, and the battery...

Pleasantly surprised by the 93431 HF Random Orbit Sander

Pleasantly surprised by the 93431 HF Random Orbit Sander

I have to admit, I am a sucker for a good random orbit sander. We all started off many years ago with the square ones that always left swirl marks, and then one day there it was, the round, 5” random orbit sander. My first was a Porter-Cable with the stick-um pad, which soon got a hook and loop system and served me well until the wheel would just start spinning out of control as soon as you lifted it off the wood. They had come down so much in price I bought another, this time variab...
