Getting More from my Router

http://routingwithtomodonnell.yolasite.com/
This is my latest blog where I can add more information each day to let others see that there is more can be done with a router only if the template guides are used.
Each project I have produced is completed with the router in the plunge mode with the aid of the guides. I intend posting more information here as I can keep a better track of what I have posted. If you feel like making any comments you can send me a pm or make a posting to a forum and I will try to answer your questions. I am well aware of the techniques that I am using are new techniques as I have never seen any such information in any other publication. There are many projects posted where I have only constructed the various jigs and templates required and I have not had a chance to present it in written form. Some people seem to think that posting a number of photographs is sufficient to learn this new technique. It is a method that has to be taught answering the questions posted.
Feel free to ask your questions and I will try and answer, not very easy putting such material to paper but much simpler to do a practical demonstration so hopefully i will have more to add to my You Tube collection but it does take time.
I am always interested in others who may have the same passion for the use of the guides and I would be interested in what others produce.
I have made a number of changes to what I put up as my first Jig Holder made some 25 years ago, a few
alterations that have improved the method of holding the material and the making of templates. Also the making of Jigs where they are not available for purchase and this is one of my pages on the new site 'The need for Jigs' and I mean the making of the jigs. I hope the site will generate more interest in the use of the router. All I can say is give the template guides a try you will be well rewarded with you

Hi Tom I've read some info on templates before but not near as informative as what I saw on your website. Very inspiring look forward to using your ideas. Thanks

P.S. In using template guides is there any rule of thumb (or your idea) of how much bigger should the busing be than the router bit? or does it matter?

There is no rule of thumb for selecting a template guide simply ask yourself what you wish to do and go from there. There are times when there are combinations to use like if I wish to do an inlay then there are rules to follow to achieve what you are after. Simply look at the problem you have and work out the easiest method of achieving what you want. I do use the 40mm template guide often for a number of reasons it's not a matter on how much bigger should the bushing be in relation to the cutter to be used
