Over the past few days I’ve been working on an idea that I’ve NEVER seen or even heard of anyone making before. Therefore I am obviously having to work out methods & techniques “on the job”. It’s only a small item that I hope will sell well at some craft fairs & markets, and possibly on line sales too. I’m NOT going to reveal what this item is, until I have got it the way I want it, and have made a few ready to sell, BUT…I WILL reveal it once I have done this!! So, if you’re looking for a nice, NEW idea, that can, and in my case WILL be turned on a MINI LATHE….watch this space! I’m hoping to have it all sorted & ready to reveal by mid to late September. :-)

So what you’re telling us is..

”I have something to tell you, but I’m gonna wait 2 or 3 weeks to tell you.”

Right? :-)

Well folks, I have now managed to make an acceptable piece, and as was my original intention while making this, I have entered the piece in a Turning Competition. The rules of the competition state that I must NOT post any details or photos of the project until the competition and judging is over. I know that the competition will be over shortly, but exactly how long the judging may take….I really have NO IDEA. I assure you though, that I WILL post details & photos as soon as the judging is over. I will, in the meanwhile, be making some of these projects to sell at craft markets etc, as I have a feeling they could prove popular around Christmas time. Sorry for the suspense, but hope you all understand….

UPDATE:- I am informed that the judging of the competition, & the Results, should be done & dusted by about 12th or 13th of THIS MONTH. Then, and only then, will I be allowed to disclose details of this project. As I’ve said previously, it’s a small/miniature piece that anyone with a lathe should be able to complete in about 3 – 4 hours…once you have made a couple of jam chuck blocks the right size. NOT LONG TO WAIT NOW REALLY FOLKS!

OK Folks, the competition is over, and I was JUST “pipped at the post”! The member votes had me equal 1st, so it came down to a vote by the “section judges” where I lost out 3-2 I believe.

RIGHT THEN….If you want to see the project and a rough description of how it’s made, just look in on my next Blog Post where I’ll upload some photo’s etc. See you there!!
