I'm a Disabled Guy who has recently (May 2014) started Turning as a way to pass my time as I'm not able to work. I have to take my time, but I get there in the end. I need, due to my Disabilities, to take frequent rests, though I find that sitting back with a Coffee & looking at the piece of wood on the Lathe, I often can see features in that wood that will determine what I make from it, as I try to keep natural grain features & do my best to capture these in the pieces I turn, often turning something I didn't intend to.

A quick bit of info for anyone using an AXMINSTER awvsl Lathe (or similar)Today, my Lathe suddenly started to speed up and slow down, somewhat similar to the old Bus engines of the 1950s era, making turning almost impossible. Also, as it would spe...
