My wife, Carleen and I  used to operate 2 businesses  in our shop in Jordan Valley, Oregon; Thos. Angle Saddlery and Owyhee Design. For many years we ranched and built saddles on the side. I also built furniture as we needed it.  We always wanted to see what would happen if we combined the two. That is what we were doing  at Owyhee Design. I used carved leather in door panels and as inlays in mirrors and table skirts. I still built the occasional custom saddle as well as chinks and tack. I also built custom kitchens and about anything else that came along.  I designed all the various things I built.  The economy ended the business in 2008. In March of 2009, we moved to North Central Wyoming to work for the Padlock Ranch. I sold off all my machinery and kept only hand tools and the saddle shop. All are in storage here at our house at Ash Creek. I'm back to cowboying and ranching. Carleen is cooking at the lodge and taking care of it. We are glad to be back in Wyoming. We are home and comfortable.

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your visit. Great looking saddles and purses! I don’t think I’ll be joining you for the calf fries, though. LOL.

Hello, I wanted to say I think your hand planes and projects are great. Your craftsman ship is really great. I wish I could see your work in person. I really like making hand planes and could learn alot from you. Do you ever sell your planes? I hope its okay to ask that question. Any way thank you for your time, Dave

Hi Thos, thanks for the welcome. Fixed the map, no longer in the ocean. I see you are very fond of hand planes, very nice work indeed.

Someday I would like to make a leather tool case for my chisels when I work away from home. Perhaps I can get a couple sketches together and you can see if something like that would be possible. Even a chisel “holster” that could hang from the bench, keep them handy.

Hi Tom and Carleen,

Sundeep (my wife) and I wanted to say thank you for your comments on our work. I visited your site and you do lovely work. I grew up in Louisiana and we would hog hunt and pin & separate cows on horseback all the time. My father was just explaining to my wife the last time we were home about how his saddle was made. I will make sure to show him your site. He loves anything to do with leather work

WOW, love your work! I also love the area you live. I’ve explored the snake river birds of prey area a few times and love it. One of the coldest camping trips I was ever on one time. Just great!

Tom: I am new to this site and i have been checking out other members work. I really love your projectes you have posted. I am very impressed by your leather work and how you put the wood and the leather together, they are awsome. I worked with leather about 15 years ago and i am planning on getting back into it and try to make leather and wood come together as one. Thanks for your posting keep up the great work.
