Oak Jewelry Armoire

This project started with a buddy of mine that owns a wood pallet business. He asked me if I could use some Oak that he had over stocked. The Oak was green and I had to stack it for over a year to get it aged. I made a mistake and stacked it in my basement, when I should have stacked it in my attic!

At any-rate, my wife asked me to build her a Jewelry Armoire to match our Oak bedroom furniture. I found plans for this Armoire in one of my wood working magazines and started milling this Oak. I had to scrap most of this free lumber I got get rid of the knots. I salvaged enough to build this project but I encountered one problem, you guessed it: a couple of the drawers stick a bit in the hot summer months. There are two side compartments for necklaces etc..

My wife has accepted this small convenience, considering the price we paid for the lumber. This was a challenging but fun project to build.

My lovely wife is since gotten into a new hobby of jewelery making, so I’m sure I will be getting a crack at building more jewelery storage!

Maple Bunkbeds

My daughter has 3 young girls and 2 small bedrooms and needed help!

I found a plan for bunkbeds and built her this set out of solid hard maple. The beds are in great shape, and every so often I do an inspection with the girls to make sure they are not damaging the “bunks”. The girls get a kick out of my inspections.

I’m new to Lumberjocks and am feeling my way around.

Hope to be mingling with you guys and gals!
