Welcome to the North Bennet Street School!

In this video, Tommy takes us on a tour of his home away from home . . . The North Bennet Street School nestled in Boston’s historic North End. Established in 1885, this is where Tommy, and many other craftsman before him studied the art of fine furniture building. Tommy’s close friend, mentor, and regular podcast contributor, Steve Brown joins Tommy as they talk about the NBSS curriculum and what to expect as a student in the Cabinet and Furniture making program. Steve is the Department Head of the Cabinet and Furniture Making Department at NBSS. The North Bennet Street School is about ready to celebrate 125 years of excellence in teaching trades and crafts.

Tommy -

Another great video! Hope you are enjoying that great Boston weather . . . looks like a wonderful day. Wish I was there. The Old North Church is beautiful. The North End is my families favorite! NBSS for me, lots of history for all of us, a great Italian resturant, Lucia, across the courtyard from The Old North Church and an absolutely wonderful Italian Grocery down the street. You are living in God’s country!

We had a wonderful visit last May . . . only thing I missed was stopping by your shop!

Now, get back in the shop!

Hey Dave – I thought that I was living in God’s country;)

Tommy, thanks for sharing North Bennet with us.

I was taking a lunch break and watched – with distractions. I will have to play it again tonight!

Thanks Tommy. This was great to see.

I have been lucky enough to take a few woodworking workshops at NBSS. I highly recommend them. The instructors are the best around.

And PurpLev, you hit the nail on the head with Mike’s Pastry – Holy Cannoli is all I can say!

Thanks for sharing! This takes me back to the colonial days of our founding fathers. Looking forward to the next video.
