Electrical Engineer by trade. I have always been interested in wood working, I am fairly handy with projects that require pure elbow grease, but fine work is extremely difficult for me. I found a treasure trove of rough cut hardwood in my Grandfathers barn, roughly 30+ pieces of 9/8 black walnut and cherry with most boards are 16-30" wide and some 16-20' long. I am no where near ready to work it, I'm thinking about spending 2 years of practice with poplar and pine or until I can get consistent miters and joints and figure out some methods of finishing. I intend on cutting my teeth on some shop/basement storage units and jigs to better prepare myself to hopefully make some decent heirloom quality furniture.
I have the advantage of being a bachelor so I went a little nuts on Craigslist.
So far my extremely disjointed shop consists of:
Grizzly G0690 Right tilt
Jet 13" Planer
Delta 6" Jointer
Jet 14" bandsaw
A Dewalt 12" MS
1hp router
3hp Cyclone Dust removal unit
A set of WoodRiver Chisels
