I put this box together so we can grow our own flowers from seeds this year. It’s kind of an experiment. For now it will have a plastic sheet cover, internal fan and light bulb heating system, and sit on our enclosed porch. The open side will face the windows. It’s mostly left over wood. One thing I learned is how to cut and plane luan.

An attractive and practical box. I imagine these save a lot of money compared to buying the small flowers at the nursery. My wife and I never got around to doing this, but I think it is a great idea.

I have since dismantled this box. It did the job but I found that to start seeds and really get them going you need something outdoors that gets more sunlight all day. This box was in my enclosed porch. The seeds grew but slowly. So the next project is a small greenhouse that can be broken down and stored.
