Mustache Mike takes over the Stumpy Nubs Workshop for his very first podcast! This time he’s talking scroll saws, and he’s starting with the basics of the basics. A great episode for those thinking of getting into scrollin’; learn about the history of the machine, the different types of scroll saws, and more!

Mustache Mike is normally Stumpy’s loyal sidekick on Blue Collar Woodworking. But as an avid scroller and turner, he’s going to be taking his unique talents prime time with a monthly show of his own! New episodes will be posted here, and at Stumpynubs.com!

Okay, I’ve got the Dewalt I picked up on Craigslist for a price I couldn’t refuse even though I really didn’t need it. I’m interested in learning about it and the types of blades etc. I don’t want to put much effort in research so I’ll simply wait for your videos. I’m in no hurry to use it right now. Thanks for the info and looking forward to more. Well done btw.

This is Mike’s area, but he’s not a message board kind of guy. I’ll comment for him :)

The Dewalt is a REALLY nice saw, especially the first version. (You can tell if you have the first or second version by looking at the label.) The second is really nice too, but it has a little more horizontal blade movement than the first.

Anyway, if you got one for a good price in good condition, you won’t be sorry! It’s a “double parallel arm” design.

Mike will be going into great detail about both scroll sawing and wood turning in future episodes, so stay tuned!

I liked it, thank you.

As I was watching MM I thought, what would happen if an orchestra was bound to follow his hand movements with their music? MM could turn into “Maestro Mike” ... or be banned from gatherings of two or more.

Excellent podcast gentlemen! MM (Moustache Mike) Has a great voice, great overdubs in previous shows, and you guys have laid it out clearly in a very short time. Much too short for me, as I was into the show and it ended! LOL!

Maybe you could assemble the pod casts into a dvd for folks who might want to watch from the sofa with a cold one? Have one my friends “you’ve earned it!”

Oh yeah, maybe some music for the frogman!

Stumpy,
Please tell Mustache Mike that my head hurts, from the “information overload”....
& I’m sending him the bill for the ADVIL!!!

In this inaugural episode of Scroll Saw Basics, I learned a great deal….
Looking forward to cramming even more information into my swollen head!!!

Good show. I enjoyed the history lesson. I’ve known most of this information for a long time, but it’s nice to see it alll in one video. Most of the times, the points Mike touches on in this video are available in piece meal here and there. I look forward to seeing where Mike goes with this.
I love scrolling. The issue I have found with informative videos on scrolling is keeping anyone besides fellow scrollers, who already know most of what is being taught, interested enough to keep watching. So as I said, I look forward to seeing the direction of Mike’s videos.

I do have one complaint with the video though. That has GOT to be the MOST annoying intro I’ve ever seen, or heard, to any kind of wood working video. I started the video while the family finished eating dinner, and my wife even looked at me and said, “what the hell is that?”
Let me guess here and say that intro was Stumpy’s idea.
