I recently retired from my mechanical engineering/product development position and have more time to pursue woodworking. As time permitted I've been a hobbyist woodworker for many years, specializing in scraps and saw dust. Occasionally a useful item would result, as much by accident as intent. I'm definitively an amateur.

My basement shop includes a band saw, wood lathe, scroll saw, table saw, bench-top drill press, small hobby metal lathe, as well as a decent collection of hand tools. I've developed a strong interest in traditional hand tool woodworking and intend to focus on that path. Hand tools offer a wonderful tactile connection to the wood and project. They also work better with a basement shop (virtually no noise and much less dust to aggravate my lovely wife!).

I'm very happy to have found my way to LJs and look forward to learning more and sharing my future project activities.
