Well, this project has been on hold until my new Grizzly G0651 arrives. Grizzly told me twice, once before I ordered and once after I ordered, that the new saws were due into their warehouse around May 9th. So, I decided to trust them even know I heard rumors on the Internet that others were told June. I ordered the saw and put this project on hold.
I decided to send them an email the other day since the May 9th date was fast approaching. I received an email back within an hour saying “Our records indicate that model G0651 Cabinet Saw is currently on back-order. We expect to receive this item in our warehouse on JULY 20 2008”. Then they go on to apologize for any inconvenience it has caused. What really upsets me is, they made no effort to notify me. I had to contact them to get this up date. You would think if an order status changes by more than 2 months they would let me know!! Hey, I have their tools in my shop and I love them and their customer service has always been good to me but guess what – NOT that good! The order is being cancelled.
So I need a new saw – I know I know get the Saw Stop. Well guess what, I don’t think anyone should have to pay $3500. My budget is around $1500. I don’t do this full time, just a big hobby.
<<update>>
As I was writing this, I just found a great deal through a friend on a Steel City 3HP 10inch with 50 inch fence! The only issue … NO riving knife. I think I will jump on this deal and let you know how it all turns out.

FYI – My friend just bought a Steel City 3HP 10inch with 50 inch fence and the dealer, 65 miles away, had to come to his house twice to get it running right. Maybe that was an exception he purchased the saw at a Woodworking Show from the dealer in Kansas City. He’s really happy with it now that it is fixed.

For those Unisaw lovers, I think these saws were built in the same plant. They are the same saw inside and out. How much did you pay? ;-)
Have your say...
