Four of us got together for a visit to small independent saw mill north of Lansing Michigan. Everyone left with wood. Stories were swapped. Rain didn’t start until after we left.

Jockmike got a real beautiful slab that I am challenging him to post a picture of.

Rest of us just got beautiful wood planks.

Steve.

Out of all of us that went I spent the least and came home with more boards. Of course I hit the shorts section while everyone else went for the big stuff.

It was a pretty good haul. I picked up a pretty decent set of White Oak planks for 60 bucks. 7 boards, most over 5 feet in length and around 11 inches in width. The proprietor is a very decent guy, very communicative, and definitely made the experience more than a business transaction. I will be definitely heading in that direction more often. I shudder to think about how much this would have cost at the big box stores -

Great haul. Looks like I’ll have to make some time and get over there.
