NAMES is the North American Model Engineering Society and they are having their 21st Annual Exposition on
April 24-25, 2010 at the Southgate Civic Center in Southgate, MI
“It is planned for 30,000 square feet of exhibit space – plenty of space for all of those larger models that you’ve wanted to bring. As always, we’ll have compressed air available so you can run steam engines. Gasoline powered engines and propane powered exhibits are also welcome.”
I don’t belong to NAMES and only attended for the first time last year when they were in Toledo convention center. The craftsmanship these guys do is awesome. There is definitely a competition between them for the most unique use of steam engines. Besides the obvious military engine miniatures, there were steam powered floor fans, steam powered lawn sprinklers, steam powered water pond pumps…
I you are near enough to Southeastern Michigan for a day trip this is a great event to see.
