What the #%*$ is that in your hand? It's a BowlSaw!

My friend Ron was going to his woodturning meeting when he met an “old-timer” turner. “What the #%*$ is that in your hand?” “It’s a BowlSaw. Let me show it to you.” “Get away from me with that thing. I’m afraid it will bite me!” And that’s the response I get to my new hand-held coring unit for 6” to 8” bowl blanks. Even the former president of my club, after seeing me demo the unit and make 3 sets of bowls in 40 minutes, said: “I wouldn’t touch that thing with a ten-foot pole!” And last week at our Christmas meeting, he insisted to me: “I’m still scared to death of it.” (and he grabbed his throat in mock fear). I’ve had this response to a unit that is so new that all the woodturners are afraid of it. They won’t even give it a try! But those who are brave enough to evaluate one that I send them all have had positive responses. For those considering a coring unit, I invite them to check the BowlSaw out at

Dick, just received the bowl saw in the mail today. I will get it in the shop this weekend and take it for a test drive. Will get plenty of photos to post as well. Your tool looks to be well made. I have been turning for many years and have tried or owned most of the bowl coring systems on the market.

I just got mine in the mail today to Dick. I don’t see a problem with using it, looks rather simple. I’ll try and to get in the shop this weekend and give it a go. Our next woodturners guild metting is Jan. 17th I’ll be taking it with me and let everyone that wants to try it out give it a go as well. I’ll let you know their response.
