Splinters Woodworks has evolved from working where ever I could work at;
to a small balcony storage room;
to a friends shop over his garage;
to a small garage of my own;
to finally a shop of my own in these beautiful northwoods of northwest Montana. There I can finally set up all my tools and work on projects at the same time. Of course one never has enough room do they..Need to do something to make more room, but that is another post…. Currently I am working on creating cribbage boards, cutting boards, and picture frames. Have a kitchen table to build at some point. Waiting for client to make decisions on style and details. I have now retired and creating custom projects for customers. Have started doing showings at local farmers markets twice a week. Not a lot of sales yet, but it is a great place to make contacts and hear what the public is looking for. Plus it gets me visibility for future projects. (Getting ready to retire and work full time in my shop preparing projects to take out to shows and shops.) Also updating the website is a time consumer in itself, but worth it in the long run. I hope to learn a lot from everyone here.
Will post photos first opportunity of some projects, or check out my projects page on website.
Glad to be here…

Location, Location, Location. One of the key attributes of the shop. Hopefully, you will post some pictures soon.

sounds like your shop is a wee little better than a balcony!!!

The journey sounds so amazing (in hindsight) but I bet it was a struggle while you were going through it.

Hi Splinters,

You have a gorgeous location. The scenery is simply fantastic. In checking your web site I see that your shop is still a work in progress. I hope you are able to get started on it soon but I am not sure I would be able to work in it with such a fantastic view. I probably would spend my time looking out the window and not concentrating on what I was supposed to be doing.

When you start on your shop why not post it as a construction blog showcasing the progress as it is built?

Over 900 days without any workshop pictures…
You must be holding out on us because of how beautiful it must be where you are.. I’m sure.
