My Shop…

Well, I fell in love with Woodworking instead of carpentry and other renos while converting my garage into a large living room. See the dilema !! As it is going to be quite a few years before we get another double car garage built, my shop is now a 12×13 room in the basement.

It is really crowded and disorganized which means not really functional yet. That is one of my goal to join LJ is to find and discuss ideas to make this tiny space into something functional and usable.

Currently what I have in there is simply

a bunch of carpentry tools
Electric hand tools,
circ saw binged up mastercraft
Jig saw – old – mastercraft
New Rigid orbital sander
new rigid finishing sander
Bosch and Ryobi Belt sanders
a miter saw on a miter saw stand
a cheap router table (ryobi) with a sag in it
A combo set Bosch router (plunge and fix base)
A Rigid table saw TS 3650 (purchased not that long ago used but in excellent shape)
A reenforced 3/4” 4×8 sheet of ply trimmed on saw horse as a bench, which used to hold part of the mold for my concrete countertop
A 6.5HP 210cfm shopvac
A few jigs and templates

I have been looking at shops on other sites and to say the least it discouraged me more than anything. Some web site featuring shops that are larger than my house and even at time nicer!!! Woodmag last month, very large A frame with floor to ceilling windows and skylinghs everywhere over looking a lake. Wow, don’t mind the shop, I’ll move my house in there!

Anyhow, I was not going to post pictures at first but since I want to chronicle the progress I will as soon as I can. They are as the shop was about 12 months ago. When the overcrowding was not too bad.

SnowFrog, I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your shop when you get the opportunity to post them. It will be fun to see the before and after pictures of your shop and to follow its evolution.
