Plane Restoration #1: Hock Blades

I ordered two of his blades. After unwrapping one, I found a serious nick in the bevel. The shipping envelop had not been damaged but the overwrap around the blade was damaged right over the nick; clearly, the wrapped blade had been dropped or knocked. I sent an e-mail with a picture of the problem, and Ron Hock sent a replacement in a couple of days – no questions asked. I like that and will continue to be a customer!

I have always gotten great service from them. And Ron Hock actually answers the phone!!!

Nice. I have received several with nicks, dings, even warped. Never thought enough of it to contact the mfg. Maybe I should have. I do like how the Hock irons perform.

The shipping clerk even wrote a personal note on the reship form saying she hoped this got to me OK! It’s nice dealing with real people.

Look into Craftsman Studio for Hock blades. Last I looked they were cheaper than Ron’s prices on the Hock site (31.50 with free shipping, on-line order vs. 38.00 for a 2 inch iron, $10 S&H, phone orders only). How do they do it! I have used this site several times and the service and product are superb.
