Well here it is my version of The Wood Whisperer Weekend Wall shelf. After watching Marc’s video on this about a year ago I was inspired to build one. After some careful planning I made my first trip to a hardwood dealer and selected my pieces. I stickered the wood and let it acclimate for a month before building. I decided to post pictures of the wood before and after finish, since I know we all love seeing the wood come alive. For finish I did General Finishes gloss Arm- R-Seal. I wanted the cherry to speak for itself and age naturally. I consider this my first real wood working project and I’m pretty happy with it. The light area in the last picture is just where I masked it off since it was getting glued in the dado. The bevels on the back support piece on the top and bottom were cut strictly with my block plane. The rest was with the table saw and cleaned up with the block plane. The dados were cut with a jig just like the one Marc shows, and the taper on the back piece was cut with a circular saw and saw guide made of hardboard and an MDF baseboard. Eventhough pictures don’t do a justice…. Please enjoy
