    Brad,
I grew up on a dairy farm near Owendale, Michigan, located in the Thumb Area of the lower penninsula. My Dad and Uncle had a decent machine shop with enough woodworking tools to whet my appetite. I helped build several of our barns and storage sheds, but it wasn't 'til I got married and moved to the Detroit area that I became really engrossed in woodworking. I taught duck decoy carving classes for an adult enrichment program in Southfield, a suburb of Detroit. I later formed a small toymaking team. We built over 800 wooden toy trains, trucks and bath tub boats to give as Christmas gifts to underprivileged children. It's been a long time since the days on the farm, but I still have some of Dad's old tools as cherished items in my modest garage workshop.

I see that you say you are from SE Michigan. I'm also an old farm boy from down in Lenawee County. unfortunately I'm up in Jackson now. I was just curious where you were from.

    Jocks,

My son's father-in-law works for Sterling Saw Blades in New York. He sent me a 1/2-inch meat/bone bandsaw blade that is out of this world for straight cuts, especially resawing. The blade leaves both sides of the kerf looking like they've already been rough sanded. I'm sure you can get the blades elsewhere, but Bob Smykla at Sterling would surely love to get more business. www.diamondsaw.com or phone 800-828-1180 and tell him Ryan's dad sent you.
