Interesting Wood #1: Hierloom Cypress with a Surprise

I try to use local wood as much as I can. This blog series is intended to capture and share some of the more interesting items I find. This entry covers some wood I’ve had for a few years. The wood is cypress that was grown and milled in east central Florida. The trees were felled and the boards were milled on order for my father more than 30 years ago. My father, brother and I used it to build a fence around my parent’s 3/4 acre property. After my parents passed away the family sold the property, but not before I “repaired” a few fence boards with PT pine replacements. The boards have been waiting in my wood pile ever since.
