So I now have two quite nicely stained bookshelves! This being the first time I have EVER stained any wood IN MY LIFE, I think there are a few places where it is a little uneven, but I learned a lot.

They got two coats of a “cherry” stain, so they are nice and dark. Just where I wanted them in the first place.

I have some lacquer to put on them this afternoon. That should be a nice touch, and then it’s wall mounting time!

I really am very new at this woodworking thing, but it is turning out to be quite fun.

Could you please post some photos. I am also new to this and will be staining a lectern that I am making from Poplar. Did you pre seal?

Yes, I meant to take some pics, but haven’t had the time yet! And also I’m lazy. ;)

I did pre-seal. I haven’t ever done any without pre-sealing, so I don’t know how much of a difference it would make, but it was simple enough.
