Wiping Varnish Issue Around Burnt-In letters - 3 replies I made a raised letter sign with a wedding date burnt in with a wood burner on cherry. What's the difference between a $5 chisel and a $20 one? - 15 replies Hi Everyone, My sharpening stones are in the mail so I plan on spending the next week sharpening my 8 chisels. 4 are Marples and 4 are Craftsman. I purchased them many years ago and I think I paid about $20 for each set. Considering the huge time investment involved if flattening the backs, should I start with better chisels? Black Walnut Juglone and Pipes - 2 replies I was recently informed that black walnut contains a toxin called Juglone. I also just made 10 pipes out of black walnut. See where I’m going with this? Apparently the concentration of juglone in the heart wood isn’t high but I suspect it’s still not a good idea to smoke it. Is it worse than the tobacco? |
