I have always had an interest in working with my hands, especially with wood. I can recall as a young boy watching my grandfather for hours in his shop. In high school I took every woodworking class I could, didn't learn a lot about working with wood but did learn all about the tools.
Than many years later, after bringing home a crappy entertainment center that fell apart as we brought it in, I than and there decided to take the big step into my own shop.
So far I have build a custom entertainment center, kitchen table with 4 chairs, crib, changing table, end table, and twin bed. My wife loves the fact that the changing table and chairs were designed and built for her 5'2" height. No standing on tip toes to change diapers!
I'm looking forward to someday starting my own little custom shop.

that’s a wonderful “history” that you bring to this craft.
I’m with your wife on the height issue. When Rick and I built our first bench for outside I savoured the moment when it was finished and then said, “Can we make another one but make it shorter so that my feet touch the ground?” And there I had it a seat built for my height!!! It’s WONDERFUL

Well, I know I’m not the only “short of stature” individual who hates not being able to touch the floor when seated or to have sore arms from working at a table that is too high.
