    Shane,
I posted on your project, and I am alway curious about the woodworker who makes the things that catch my eye. I read what you posted in regards to your daughter being treated for cancer, as a cancer survivor myself I can relate to the amount of time treatment takes. If her treatments are being managed by MD Anderson she is in very good hands. They are one of the leading centers in the world. One of my friends who attends the same cancer support group I attend here in Seattle, attends MD Anderson and he has nothing but good to say about them. He has been going there for over ten years. I hope ypur daughter is doing well. I am a testement to the fact that we have made great strides in the treatment of cancer. I was diagnosed October 15th, 2003 with very advanced colon cancer that had spread already. At the time the doctor was straight wiith me. He told me that there was a very strong chance of not seeing Christmas, and that I should get my things in order. But he said they would do there best, well I'm still. And knock on wood still cancer free!
Lumberjocks is a great website there is a lot of knowledge to be found here, and some wonderfull people.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

    God Bless

    Hey Tom,

Thanks for the welcome and I'm liable to take you up on your offer, someday. (of getting help) She's at Cook Children's right now but we are scheduled to go back to MD Anderson in Houston next week. The hospitals are co-treating her. My job makes me go all over the North Texas and I have a number of customers in Rockwall, so maybe I can drop by sometime. Glad to hear about your daughter doing so well.

Shane, I'm fairly new too, but you will not meet a better bunch of guys and gals for great wood wisdom. I know you will be enriched by the experience. Welcome to LJ's and if I can help in any way, let me know. I live in Rockwall, just east of Dallas out I-30. What hospital is you daughter in? My oldest daughter, now 13, spent quite awhile in Children's when she was under 2 yrs old. I still send a couple of pizzas to the ICU every Christmas Eve. She is now a healthy, intelligent, talented and engaging young lady and I'm immensly proud of her and thankful to the Lord and the doctors and nurses there for this blessing. I really hope you can make it.

Feel free to email or IM.

Thanks a lot guys. Sorry I haven't responded before now. I have two reasons for doing so. One is, I kept getting emails notifying me that someone had posted but I could never find them. This morning I clicked on one of the links within in the email and found these. Guess I haven't acclimated to how this forums goes yet. :) The second reason is, my 15 yr. old step daughter is going through chemo and when she does, we spend a lot of time at the hospital. I signed up for this forum while I was in her room one night, so when she's in the hospital, I don't have much time to do the "normal" things in life.

What part of Texas am I in? I'm between Burleson and Mansfield amongst some pine trees. :) I have just recently taken up woodworking. It has been a dream of mine for a very long time but have never been at a place in my life where I could do it, so I will have many more questions than I will answers and as far as posting projects….that may be awhile. If there are a number of Texas guys on here and you are in the Metroplex, then one thing I have always thought would be cool is to just hang around guys, that know what their doing, and pick up on tips and tricks. If anyone is interested in letting a green hand hang out and look over their shoulder sometime, then please let me know.

Thanks again for the welcome and I look forward to asking questions and getting different ideas on how to get it done.
