Pasochnitsa build is described in previous blog entries.
And now it’s time to make a storage box for it.
In this build I tried some techniques new for me, including making dovetails, making sliding cap, using shooting board and router plain.
First of all I measured the inner size of the box

I had a pretty nice ash board awaiting its time. And I decided to use it for the build. But at first I made a simple shooting board

With its help it was very easy to make square boards

The second thing I had to make was a dovetail marking jig

It may be used in two positions for comfortable marking near edges of a board. The second position is

The marking itself
and a jig for marking to hold two boards in right position

I marked and sawed dovetails in two boards at once.
Next few steps were not documented.
And I got the box

And after linseed oil

So the pasochnitsa found a new home and I learned how to make dovetails (wow! I became a man!)

Congratulations with losing your DT virginity! :-)

Nice little box, looks pretty neat.

What kind of router plane did you use?

Thank you Yura! Router plane from Veritas. I made the rabbets in sliding cap with it. The rabbets in side boards I made with plough plane, it is also from Veritas.

Wonderful storage box Sergeich! Those are your first dove tails in a finished piece? or first your ever tried? I did dovetails for the very first time today. They look nothing like yours. Yours are great! Thanks for sharing.
