Kitchen Island Project #9: The Kitchen Island is DONE!!
We put in a full day yesterday constructing the top and routing the edging. Then we did the finish sanding and applied several coats of Danish Oil Natural finish. The top is removable which was needed to get this beastie into the kitchen. It’s about 300 lbs of oak so took 4 of us to move it. When I applied the Danish Oil, we had a few while blotches about the size of a quarter appear. It was entirely on the oak ply panels. A light sanding and reapplication of Danish Oil on those spots resolved that problem. Must have been something on the wood. Anyway, here it is, after 6 weeks of work.
