Location: Hampstead, Maryland

Ill be 67 years old in May, 2013. For 25 years I owned and operated a company called Signs Of Our Times in Maryland. We specialized in sandblasted and hand carved wooded signs. For 20 years they were predominantly Redwood. Then, California cut the redwood delivery to the East Coast. They'd been selling too much to the Orient and were running out. We tried dense urethane foam for a substrate, but it wasnt the same. The men grew up, the economic times called for more plywood signs and less ornate signs and we closed the Co. in 2005
For 25 years I carved what customers wanted me to carve. NOT ANYMORE. Now I carve whats in my heart. I specialized in chip carving and bas-relief carving. Took several courses with Wayne Barton. He taught me to be the meticulous carver I am.
MOST RECENTLY, I took up the manufacture of reproductions of swords and knives. They are mostly either Vermont Sugar Pine of Basswood. I did do one using Western Red Cedar to simulate Damascus Steel. They are all wood. They are "honestly made" with a blade with a tang, a guard and a handle.
