Hellofellow LJ’ers.

A few years ago, Gerber Legendary Knives shot a TV commercial, and in a moment of pure lunacy, decided to include yours truly in the advertisement. The “tough guy” attitude shown in the video is pretty ironic, as anyone who knows me understands what a big baby I truly am. I once got a splinter and cried about it for 2 days (I can show you the scar, if you want).

Enjoy the vid.

was that tough or angry they were going for LOL :)

Great commercial, but I hate Gerber blades… from my experience their steel is sub-par for what a knife should be. I get Gerber knives occasionally through work, and I can’t get them to hold an edge for longer than half a day after sharpening.

I have 1 knife that I’ve used for over 10 years and I can shave with it after using it for a week. I also have found that some of the folding knife kits you can buy come with very good steel as well. I bought through knifekits.com a while back, and those blades have held up very well so far.

Hi Scott,

Well, I think that commercial was better than doing one for Gerber Baby Foods! LOL

Very good…

Thanks for dropping in!

I’ve got a Gerber knife in my pocket right now. I use it almost every day. When I travel anywhere by plane and have to leave it at home, my first stop is a Wal-Mart where I can buy another one and I mail it home when I’m ready to go back to the airport.

I loved the commercial. A burly woodworker with a beautiful chair in the background is about the same as that beautiful woman who was holding the baby on the Ivory Snow box back in the 70’s. (big evil grin, I couldn’t help myself)

Scott, your chairs are beautiful. I got an e-mail yesterday from Highland Woodworking and they have a bundle with your rocker DVD, book and templates along with the low back dining chair DVD, book and templates for $119. I’m going to order the bundle. I’ve got enough wood dry and ready to use to build a forest of rockers. One cherry crotch that I slabbed 2 1/4” thick, a walnut crotch slabbed 2 1/4” thick, a burl elm log, again 2 to 2 1/4” thick and some oak and I’ve got a great slab of ash to build my first one so if it’s less than I expect I’ll use it as a shop chair.

Thanks everyone for the great comments. Hal – Highland Woodworking doesn’t carry my DVD’s ot templates. Rockler, Woodcraft and others do, however.

Woops, I found them at the woodcraft website after I left that last message. Thanks for posting the video anyway.
