no previous part Part 1 of Porter Cable Dovetail Jig #4216 series Part 2: FedEx delivers and I started to test the unit. »

OK….. I pulled the trigger on the Porter Cable #4216 dovetail jig. I need it for the kitchen in the new house and I am up against a huge deadline. The few extra dollars I paid for this unit is for the templates included. Mini dovetails and box joints and a through dovetail and box joint jig.

Now, LJs, I have a Leigh D4R so I guess the question is, “Why in the world did you ‘downgrade’? Well, I have about 130 or so drawers to build. I am hoping this jig will speed up the process. The D4R unit makes BEAUTIFUL half-blind dovetails but it does it with two passes. The PC makes them with one pass but you lose the variable spacing and sizes. TRADE OUT time.

That’s a lot of drawers! I like my PC, you’ll like yours too! Throw in a little Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver on Pandora while you work and time will fly by. :-)

Hope you enjoy it. I know I love mine. When you need a bunch of drawers, it’s quick and accurate. Your right about the variable spacing but the way I see it, if anyone is getting close close enough to criticize the spacing of my dovetails on my kitchen drawers they better have washed the dishes and be in the process of putting away the utensils. Good Luck.

Good series!
I bought the 4212 (same as yours but without the mini template) when porter cable was giving a rebate on it plus there was a $20 off $100 promo too, so I ended up with it for $104 out the door from tools-plus. :)

I still have to set it up and use it, but I’m confident I won’t be disappointed.
I’ll be looking forward to reading how it performs for you and all those drawers. :)
