How did he do that?
I suppose everyone has gotten a private message from Avelino.
It looked suspicious so I did a search and find that name posted every few seconds.

Lee, I have not received one of these yet but I am sure it is coming. These guys certainly are resourceful and they constantly troll the internet, newspapers and phones looking for another victim to take the bait. Most of us just check the delete box but, obviously, they are able to scam enough victims to keep on going with the process. I have no doubt that Avelino probably could be ultimately traced back to Nigeria.

Well, the “Nigerian” email scam may have originated in Nigeria, but it was soon after adopted by MANY con artists from different countries and many variations. It’s MUCH more likely that the originator of the recent spam messages on this site originate from South America, as Nigeria has cracked down hard on the scammers and the fact that most people associate the tactic with Nigeria so much so that they have relatively little success these days with it when they try. That said, I enjoy reading the stories about people who lead scammers on a wild goose chase. Some pretty good entertainment there.
