A little funny to be reminded that I joined a year ago… and to see that last year I was behind in making Mother's Day gifts… just like this year! Imagine that! I have finished some things, so I'm not panicky, but I don't have much time left. (It is Fri. night as I write this.) Thank goodness for the less stinky finishes like shellac and water-based poly-u.

Thanks, everybody. I was fascinated when I came upon this site. I've been woodworking for about 5 years. I had a room in the basement that just invited me to fill it with woodworking tools… then I read that you can never have enough clamps or wood… and now clamps and wood fill ALL the space not taken by other tools. I have mostly benchtop-size tools (table saw, drill press, bandsaw)... no room for the big boys. It is a very small shop… topped off with a ceiling just a few inches above my head! I go into a different room to do scrolling and yet another room to let finishing coats dry.

My first project was a cradle for my first grand-daughter… and when I went to test-assemble it, there wasn't enough room in the shop to do that! So I realized I will not be a furniture maker. I soon gravitated to the scrollsaw and most of my projects involve scrolling in one way or another. I am not a pattern designer, but my preference is to be a little creative in the implementation of a pattern. I just got a Rockler finger joint jig for the router table, so now I'm playing around with box making. When I get a chance, I'll start posting some of the projects I've completed.

At the moment, though, I am way behind in getting Mother's Day gifts completed… so…. I have to run!

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

    God Bless
