Hey LJs just know how much I enjoy seeing everyone’s shop setup and the disappointment I have when seeing that it has not been added so I figured I would do my part given its relative cleanliness at present :)
Nothing too incredible with this garage shop and certainly a work in progress, but certainly my favorite “room” of the house. Have an old slate pool table which provides an excellent layout/work table centrally located with a sheet of waffle board over the top. Have spent some time pondering a better design for this but have a number of requirements and have not yet determined the best course of action there…
Have fully insulated the walls/ceiling with R19 and 3/4” ply stained golden oak with mahogany stained crown molding… Provides a good place to put a nail/screw whenever/wherever desired, placed a window air/heat which maintains comfortable working conditions year round. Built the 4 by 4 / 2 by 4 and 3/4” shelving which when empty appear to be ample amount of storage but imagine you can never have enough :) Additional storage is accessible from a drop down ladder to the “attic” but this is predominately filled with home overflow.
Converted one of the mentioned shelves into a sanding station as well as a router table which works nicely for pieces under 4’. This station provides a secondary location for overflow and or detail work and the peg board above it provides a good organization for some of the hand tools etc.
The other shelves have their respective sections i.e. structural lumber, misc hardwoods, tools, bottle collection, the tv, stereo, and bar display stock… Next to these shelves I have another workbench predominately used by wife and daughter for carving/painting but makes a good place to do sit down work and holds one of the tool boxes and a go to chisel set.
The other side has my air compressor and miter saw held in a miter table a made to fit the Jaw Horse. Jumping across and around the shop is the couch and recently reconstructed shop table for relaxing Dog Lobo loves it, drill press, table saw, and scroll saw, converted gun safe containing finishers etc, fridge and bar…
As stated still a work in progress and in need of the bandsaw, planer/jointer, grinder, and air filtration system… Likely in that order but we’ll see if I find any deals and will no doubt find more have to haves *including shop space :P
Thanks for looking and all the best to you all…
